Jewellery from the eight states of Northeast India
Samavaya — a Sanskrit word for coming together — gathers the bead, brass and silver traditions of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. Every piece begins as a sketch and is made by hand with artisans across the region.

The traditions
The Northeast is home to hundreds of communities and as many ways of adorning the body. We don’t try to flatten them into one look — we follow the thread that runs between them: beads passed down, metal worked by hand, colour worn with pride.
Read about each traditionGold-washed silver, bell metal and the curves of the Brahmaputra.

Signature piece Inspired by Tripura
The first sketch in the Samavaya notebook. Thirteen coins, each hung from a tiny trefoil drop, swing from a collar of red glass beads — a tribute to the coin necklaces Reang women have worn for generations.
How it’s made
Every design starts on paper — ink, watercolour and a lot of crossing out.
Bead-workers, metalsmiths and cane weavers across the eight states bring each sketch to life.
Pieces are finished, checked and paired with the story of the tradition behind them.
Wrapped in handwoven cloth and shipped from the Northeast to wherever you are.

The coin collar is even more beautiful in person. I wore it to my cousin’s wedding in Agartala and three aunties asked where it was from.
Light, well made and the little card about Naga beadwork that came with it was such a lovely touch.
I bought the Kopou studs for Bihu and haven’t taken them off since. Packaging was gorgeous too.
