Our story
Samavaya means
coming together.
It began as a sketchbook — pages of necklaces, cuffs and earrings drawn after visits to markets, festivals and grandmothers’ jewellery boxes across the Northeast. The more pages filled up, the clearer it became: the traditions were different, but the thread running between them was the same.
Today every Samavaya piece still starts on paper, and is made by artisans in the eight states whose craft inspired it.

The emblem
Many pieces around one flower.
Our emblem is a ring of cobalt mosaic — dozens of small, uneven pieces — around a single flowering vine on a deep forest field. The mosaic is the many communities of the Northeast; the vine is what they share. You’ll find those triangles along the edges of this site, too.
From the sketchbook
Where every piece begins
Ink, watercolour and the odd coffee ring. These are the actual drawings our artisans work from.
Made by hand, credited by name
Each order card names the workshop that made your piece. Artisans are paid upfront for every batch, never on consignment.
Small batches, honest materials
Glass, brass, bell metal, cane and silver plate — described exactly as they are. We make in runs of twenty or fewer.
Inspired, not copied
Sacred and clan-specific ornaments stay with their communities. We design new pieces in conversation with makers, not replicas.
